Overview
EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JEFFERSON PROTECTION AND ANIMAL WELFARE SERVICE. This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur. NOTE : Selective certification of eligibles willing and able to work with and around various types of animals will be used in filling this vacancy.
Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, this position manages, develops, and promotes informational and / or educational programming that is provided to fosters, adopters, employees, administration, council, or the general public for the Department of JPAWS.
- Willing and able to work around and handle various animals in order to effectively perform assigned tasks.
- Manages all departmental digital communication outlets, including, but not limited to, regular updates to the official JPAWS website, social media platforms, and any other relevant digital communications and tools.
- Manages all photography and videography for JPAWS social media platforms, websites, presentations, events, meetings, Petfinder, etc., and saves all photo / video files for the Director, PIO, Administration, Council, or relevant organizations.
- Develops strategies for social media content creation including relevant photography, videography and / or graphics; monitors and reports on relevant social media activity; and regularly reviews analytics on reach, growth, and engagement.
- Develops and produces special campaigns.
- Coordinates all JPAWS event planning, special campaigns, and / or marketing with Director, and through the Public Information Office (PIO).
- This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish.
- Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.
Qualifications
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or closely related curriculum; PLUS at least two years of work experience designing, preparing, and presenting marketing, informational, or training programs.NOTE : Extensive public relations work experience involving responsibility for promoting departmental or company programs / services through the design and preparation of brochures, Internet web pages, newsletters, pamphlets and / or other informational literature; and contacting local businesses, civic groups, electronic and print media and / or the public to promote and inform of programs / services through oral and visual presentations may substitute for the above degree requirement.Related education, experience, and / or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.Examination and Hiring Process
The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing.
