Job Summary

The Director of Foundation Relations initiates, cultivates. and maintains foundation relationships with private foundations to support the college¿s initiatives. This includes identifying and managing foundation grant opportunities that align with institutional fundraising priorities. This position collaborates with senior leadership, faculty, and administrators to identify and prepare grant projects and budgets. The Director coordinates required stewardship reporting to fulfill post-award expectations, and facilitates meetings and site visits between program officers at foundations, college faculty, and Advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Write and submit grant proposals, develop grant budgets, and maintain relationships with foundation officers.
  • Work across the institution to partner with advancement officers, deans, department chairs, faculty, and staff to maximize gift and grant support.
  • Manage stewardship activities for foundation donors including report writing, collaborating with other departments to monitor the progress of projects and gather information for reporting, tracking grant expenses preparing financial reports, and advising on major grant projects. Serve as an advisor on program teams for major grant projects.
  • Manage a portfolio of foundation donors capable of investments at the major gift level.
  • Collaborate with other Advancement staff on foundation activities that intersect with individual prospect work, including proposal writing and budgeting.
  • Administer the grant's solicitation clearances / approvals, training sessions and meetings with principal investigator(s) to ensure the financial requirements and timelines are met.
  • Manage information on and activities with key constituents and provide regular reporting on progress through Raiser's Edge.
  • Collaborate with Research & Sponsored Programs to train faculty and staff on proper grant procedures and maintain similar workflows in both areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Work required on some evenings and weekends.

Required Qualifications

  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree
  • Four or more years demonstrated successful experience in a combination of any of the following : grant writing, advancement / fundraising, communications, management, community relations, external affairs, or related field
  • Requires a valid driver's license
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Experience in a higher education setting, preferably in Advancement
  • Experience with donor software, specifically Raiser's Edge, Foundation Search / Candid, and grants resources
  • Proven ability to drive change and achieve results in an academic setting
  • CFRE and Grant Writing Certificate preferred
  • Experience in project management including developing strategic communications and persuasive writing
  • Strong writing and program management experience
  • Experience in engaging and supervising vendors and volunteers
  • Proposed Salary

    Salary range from 63,500 - 79,500

    Salary offer will be dependent on candidate's experience and qualifications, internal equity considerations, budget availability, and salary administration guidelines.
