Position Overview
The Technical Manager provides leadership, oversight, and technical direction to a team of professionals responsible for maintaining and optimizing network infrastructure operations. This role ensures effective performance, reliability, and scalability of the organization’s enterprise network by overseeing system monitoring, performance analysis, and modernization initiatives. The Technical Manager plays a key role in translating business requirements into telecommunications solutions across LAN, MAN, WAN, voice, and video systems, while ensuring service quality, compliance, and alignment with organizational objectives.
This position requires strong technical expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and a strategic mindset to guide network operations, implement performance improvements, and support mission-critical communications environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance to technical teams responsible for network infrastructure operations and support.
- Translate business and operational requirements into network and telecommunications specifications, including LAN, MAN, WAN, voice, and video systems.
- Oversee the management of network performance, ensuring end-to-end service quality meets established KPIs, SLAs, and standard operating procedures.
- Perform in-depth operational analysis of network systems and provide recommendations to support modernization and optimization initiatives.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of network performance and management tools for existing and emerging technologies.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex hardware, software, and network performance issues.
- Conduct regular testing, analysis, and validation of network elements to maintain operational readiness and service reliability.
- Provide expert support and guidance to end users, operations personnel, and program management.
- Coordinate and perform software and security patching activities to ensure systems remain current and compliant.
- Identify and implement enhancements to network management tools and monitoring capabilities.
- Support project planning, documentation, and reporting activities for ongoing network operations and modernization efforts.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Networking, Telecommunications, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).Minimum of six (6) years of senior-level networking experience administering enterprise infrastructures in large, complex environments.Strong working knowledge of network concepts, infrastructure, and equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.Experience implementing and managing enterprise-wide monitoring systems for servers, network devices, and applications.Proven ability to lead projects and technical teams effectively.Proficiency in project management practices and understanding of network security and compliance requirements.Preferred
Relevant certifications such as ITIL v3, CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE.Demonstrated experience conducting operational analysis and recommending technology improvements for large-scale enterprise networks.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with stakeholders, leadership, and technical teams.Why Join Chartis Federal?
