A Day In The Life
Reporting to the Safety Director, this role supports our Response & Recovery group and participates as a leader in the Corporate Safety group. The incumbent will lead the safety staff and perform safety activities including site safety assessments, safety policy / program development, and safety training development and delivery. In performing such duties, a Safety Manager will provide support to project managers in the areas of safety, compliance, risk assessment, and emergency response. The successful candidate will apply best practices and compliance requirements for safety to ensure client's expectations are met. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to manage projects with minimal guidance and provide training to employees as directed or requested. The Safety Manager shall maintain a response bag with required PPE and appropriate clothing and be subject to on-call rotation 24 / 7 for emergency response and frequent, extended travel.
This role will be responsible for a full range of activities including :
Provide corporate health and safety leadership in the prevention of injuries and illnessesProvide corporate health and safety leadership to maintain regulatory and client safety complianceImmediate availability for extended travel and emergency response at client's request or in support of the Resilience & Recovery group;Perform duties safely to minimize threats to self and others in work settings with potential chemical, physical, biological, and safety hazards;Perform (with minimal guidance) site safety activities, including, but not limited to, safety briefings and preparation / review of project- or site-specific health and safety plans;Provide support to Resilience & Recovery project managers in the areas of safety, compliance, risk assessment and emergency response with minimal direction;Understand and explain the basic and with minimal guidance, the advanced concepts of anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling hazards to workers, the general public, and the environment;Demonstrable ability to solve problems and make accurate and informed decisions regarding safety with minimal guidance;Compile, review and summarize scientific / technical data and literature;Support other service areas as assigned and under the appropriate supervision;Perform all duties according to the ethics of the Safety profession;Demonstrate a professional attitude toward our clients, customers and co-workers which reflects favorably upon the company;Perform such other duties as assigned.Work Environment And Physical Demands
