Position Title : Accounting Manager
Location : Wheaton, IL (Hybrid Schedule – In-office : Monday, Wednesday, Thursday; Remote : Tuesday, Friday)
Position Overview :
The Accounting Manager will oversee the end-to-end financial operations for a portfolio of public sector investment funds. This role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all fund accounting and financial reporting activities. The Manager leads a team of accountants and support staff, overseeing day-to-day tasks, supporting long-term projects, and collaborating on organizational initiatives. This role is also a key contact for annual audits and works closely with the Vice President of Fund Administration to drive operational improvements and maintain strong financial oversight.
Key Responsibilities :
- Direct and support a team of accounting professionals, offering subject matter expertise on accounting standards, internal policies, and operational best practices.
- Conduct detailed reviews of journal entries, reconciliations, and internal reports to ensure compliance and precision.
- Investigate and resolve complex accounting discrepancies or outstanding issues in a timely fashion.
- Step in as needed to manage daily fund operations, including trade postings, net asset value (NAV) calculations, and performance reporting.
- Lead preparation and review of audit deliverables and facilitate interactions with external audit firms during annual fund and SOC audits.
- Evaluate financial materials for board and committee meetings, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
- Provide in-depth financial analyses, including cost tracking, variance reviews, and trend identification.
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, compliance, and investment teams to address and resolve financial reporting matters.
- Spearhead initiatives aimed at improving accounting workflows, enhancing systems, and updating procedural documentation.
- Uphold high standards for accuracy and consistency across all financial documentation and reports.
- Balance multiple priorities and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to improve operational efficiency and resolve financial discrepancies.
