Job Description :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to join our team, responsible for managing financial records for both residential and commercial real estate properties in Fort Lee, NJ. The ideal candidate will have experience in real estate accounting, including property management, and will be proficient in using AppFolio bookkeeping software. This role will involve maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Account Management : Maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of both residential and commercial real estate properties, including tracking rental income, expenses, and accounts payable / receivable.
- General Ledger Maintenance : Post journal entries and update the general ledger with property-related transactions, ensuring all data is accurately recorded in AppFolio.
- Reconciliations : Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor statements monthly within AppFolio to ensure financial accuracy.
- Financial Reporting : Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for each property type (residential and commercial).
- Accounts Payable / Receivable : Manage and process invoices, track tenant payments, and ensure timely collection of rent and fees for both residential and commercial tenants.
- Property Management Support : Collaborate with property managers to track maintenance expenses, property taxes, insurance, and other property-related costs for residential and commercial properties.
- Budgeting & Forecasting : Assist in preparing and monitoring property budgets and forecasts, ensuring expenses align with projections for both residential and commercial portfolios.
- Tax Compliance : Ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations, including preparing tax filings and supporting documentation for property tax assessments.
- Lease Tracking : Monitor lease agreements, rent schedules, and security deposits for both residential and commercial properties to ensure compliance with contractual terms.
- Software Utilization : Utilize AppFolio for all accounting-related tasks, including data entry, reporting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.At least 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in real estate or property management, with experience in both residential and commercial properties.Proficient in using AppFolio for real estate accounting, along with strong knowledge of other Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, QuickBooks).Strong understanding of accounting principles, real estate management, and financial reporting.Knowledge of local and state tax laws and real estate regulations for both residential and commercial properties.Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with property managers, tenants, vendors, and other stakeholders.Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Compensation :
