Overview
We are seeking an experienced General Manager – Food & Nutrition Services to lead daily operations for a large hospital-based food and nutrition team in Washington, DC. This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing patient dining, retail food services, catering, and staff dining operations within a complex healthcare environment.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and direct all daily operations of food and nutrition services, including patient meals, retail outlets, catering, and physician / staff dining.
- Drive compliance with food safety, sanitation, and healthcare regulations.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve financial targets and operational excellence.
- Manage and mentor a diverse, multi-unit team while promoting staff engagement and development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with hospital leadership, nursing, and patient care teams.
- Ensure a positive dining experience that aligns with the hospital\'s patient-first philosophy.
- Oversee budgets, supply chain, and dietary management systems.
Must Have
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.5+ years of management experience in food and nutrition services, specifically within a hospital or large healthcare system.Demonstrated success leading large, multi-unit operations with complex teams.Strong track record in food safety, sanitation, and healthcare regulatory compliance.Commitment to nursing relationships and patient experience as a leadership priority.Proficiency with dietary management systems (e.g., CBORD, Computrition), inventory control, and food safety compliance tools.Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and forecasting.Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills.Nice to Have
Experience managing food and nutrition operations in a large hospital or large enterprise healthcare environment.Consulting / contracting background in healthcare food services with measurable impact.Compensation & Benefits
