In collaboration with colleagues across Oracle, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards for safety, security, and operational efficiency to provide our customers with reliable access to Oracle's cloud solutions-all at optimal cost and efficiency.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is expanding rapidly. We are looking for Data Center Technicians to join our Infrastructure Operations team through our Work-Based Learning Program (WBLP). Trainees will participate in a three-month work and training program based in our Abilene data centers. During the program, you'll help ensure the continuous availability and reliability of our services. Outstanding trainees will have the opportunity to transition into permanent full-time roles after successfully completing the program.
Responsibilities

Depending on your skills and interests, you may be assigned to one or more of the following teams :
Install Team
Perform startup tests to ensure liquid cooling systems are properly installed and ready for high-density IT workloads.
Rack installation according to site plans and technical documentation.
Placement of servers, networking equipment, and other components into racks.
Running and managing network and power cables within racks and the data center infrastructure.
Testing and verification of installed equipment and cabling for correct function and compliance.
Adhere to detailed installation procedures, documenting all activities.
Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and project managers for efficient installation.
Logistics and Operations
Shipping and receiving : inspect, accept / reject goods, verify shipments, and track all inbound / outbound activity.
Inventory management : maintain accurate asset location records and perform cycle counts.
Safely move and stage equipment; support installation / removal of hardware.
Coordinate with construction, engineering, and vendors to meet project deliverables.
Ensure safety and security compliance in all logistics operations.
Document equipment movements and analyze logistics for process improvements.
Provide escorts to supervise third-party vendors during maintenance.
Breakfix
Diagnose and resolve hardware issues on servers, network devices, and storage systems.
Replace faulty hardware components (CPU, RAM, drives, cards, power, cables).
Install and decommission equipment during system upgrades or refreshes.
Perform routine equipment / system maintenance.
Monitor for issues and respond swiftly to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with internal engineering teams and vendors to resolve complex issues.
Manage and update service tickets.
Follow standard operating and maintenance procedures.
Maintain cleanliness and security of operational areas.
Objective Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Enthusiasm for technology and a strong desire to start a career in data center operations.
Basic understanding of computer hardware and networking concepts.
Willingness to learn new technical skills and follow established processes with precision.
Ability to collaborate effectively in an inclusive team environment.
Solid understanding of fundamental mathematical and computational concepts
Professional demeanor with strong communication skills.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces as required.
Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.
Reliable transportation to the Abilene, TX data center location.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off : Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
