The Emergency Care Registered Nurse (RN) provides exceptional patient care in both emergency and psychiatric settings. This role encompasses assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of personalized care plans, ensuring each patient's unique needs are met. Under the direction of the PCS Manager or Clinical Coordinator, you will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise patient care in line with hospital and department protocols. This position includes overseeing tasks delegated to non-RN personnel and, where necessary, stepping into charge nurse roles to manage unit activities effectively. Cross-training for assignments in the New London ED, Psychiatric Emergency Services, and Pequot Emergency Departments will also be required as needed. Additionally, you will perform other duties as assigned to maintain exceptional service standards.\n\nResponsibilities\n
- Continuously assess the patient's physical and psychosocial conditions throughout their care.\n
- Develop and document a tailored plan of care that addresses the patient's needs, involving the patient, family, and healthcare team in the process.\n
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and coordinate the plan of care.\n
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan, adjust as necessary, and facilitate referrals when needed.\n
- Assess the individual learning needs of patients and families to provide relevant education and document outcomes.\n
- Act as a psychiatric emergency nurse as assigned, once authorized.\n
- Function as a triage nurse when designated, once authorized.\n
- Take on charge nurse responsibilities as assigned, once authorized.\n
- Serve as a preceptor for new staff, as assigned and authorized.\n
- Meet performance expectations in areas such as customer service, teamwork, resource management, and professional development.\n
- Perform additional tasks as required for the smooth operation of the unit.\n

Proficient with electronic patient records and capable of conducting internet research for patient care.\n\nExperience : \nPrevious experience in Emergency Department preferred.\n\nLicensure : \nValid Registered Nurse license from the State of Connecticut.\n\nSpecial Skills : \nCurrent BLS certification required upon hire. ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire; CPI is required within 1 year.
