Network Engineer

Overview

Educators is seeking a motivated Network Engineer to assist our team with network design, engineering, and operational responsibilities. This position requires a hands-on approach and focuses on maintaining network reliability, security, and comprehensive documentation in an environment primarily utilizing Cisco technologies. Solution-oriented individuals with excellent problem-solving skills will thrive in our environment.

Role

Maintains networks, servers, operating systems and communication links.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Responsible for communication links including core network infrastructure, branch networking and routing.
• Responsible for architecture, operation and documentation of the corporate LAN / WAN / SDWAN along with integration of emerging technologies.
• Administer network and data security through system controls, physical routing and filtering devices. Implement ACL and firewall rules as needed
• Provides project management for special projects. Coordinates projects within the department staff, other departments, and external vendors. Maintain partner and vendor relationships.
• Participates in short and long-range planning for the department to select and utilize appropriate technologies to meet the evolving needs of the credit union, employees, and members.
• Maintains a broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies, architectures, and products. Recommend standards, conventions, policies and procedures in all areas of expertise.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience : Five years to eight years of similar or related experience. Experience with Cisco ACI, ISE, Palo Alto firewalls, and Riverbed monitoring tools

Education : (1) A bachelor\'s degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor\'s degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

Interpersonal Skills : Work involves much personal contact with others inside and / or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills : Training and certifications in computer desktop and networking. Good communication skills and able to work well with others and unsupervised.
