Senior Mechanical Designer / Checker

(BIW Tooling Fixture)

This opening is for a Senior Catia Mechanical Designer / Checker for Tooling fixture Body Shop background and experience.

INTERVIEWS FOR QUALIFIED CANDIDATES IN PERSON OR VIA GOOGLE MEET

Currently

  • has a hybrid work model : Fours Days in the office, One Day, Work From home. Based on Poject performance (subject to change).

One Day; remote

  • Four days;
  • Arlans Office (mandatory).

    The following Key Words / Phrases are samples of Product Designers and what to look for :

  • Sheetmetal Design
  • Plastic injection mold
  • Manufacturing Engineer developing and validating, electrified propulsion and automatic transmission Components and systems.
  • HVAC systems with Plenums, Actuator driven mechanics
  • Design axle assemblies, suspension components
  • Tank shields, Design of metal and plastic windshield wiper components
  • Molded parts specialist, parts designed include moldings, fender vents, front grilles.
  • Design (3D) and detail (2D) Emission control systems

    • Required Qualifications : Knowledge & Skills :

    Required Skills :

  • Mechanical Designer I / for Body Shop Tooling of Body in White Assembly
  • Approximately 4 years of experience
  • NX cad skills and knowledge of North American Auto Manufacturer standards and specifications for Body in White Tooling Fixtures.
  • Strong understanding of Body Assembly, (geometry setting) and Fixture Tools for Framing lines, Bodyside Systems and Sub Assembly for tooling fixture design.
  • Strong knowledge of auto assembly strategies (i.e. part flow within an assembly plant / body Shop),
  • Understanding of how a GEO and Repot Systems function.
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, Fixtures, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment-
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for WeldGun BGA, Cap Aptors. Servo-Motors.
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
  • Modify existing 3D and 2D models for "Kits" and create new designs for simple and intermediate and complex systems. Develop Kit Sheet showing before and after.
  • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems. Drive and understand customer specifications both corporate and plant and apply
  • standards for use in all aspects of mechanical designs.
  • Strong Fixture and Detail stack up methodology and how it relates to machining and tool stack up.
  • Understanding of customer specifications (corporate and plant), standards, and local and / or national
  • Familiar with NAAMS Standards, Customer Standards, Attributes in cad file, using Cad Check options.
  • Coordinate and review with Technical Leaders, Project Engineers, Sr. Mechanical Engineers, and colleagues to maintain consistency within a given project, and or to resolve design or other problems. Computers - Knowledge of Windows, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and a high degree of competence with CAD platforms and associated application software.
  • Vendor Coordination / Purch components : W in model space and paper space to bring in and ID supplier items.

    • Preferred Skills :

  • Understanding of Mechanical Design Sequences / Controls documents to Controls Design along with customer deliverables.
  • Ability to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Analyzing Data or Information - Identifying. Understanding information provided by the customer, supplier and or processes of direction given. Possibly breaking it down to get a better, clear understanding.
  • Troubleshooting - Determining causes of mechanical errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • May be required to travel to other
  • Facilities, and customer site to assist in the installation / start-up and final machine acceptance.

    • 5+ years Mechanical Design and Engineering experience in Powertrain or Associates Degree in Mechanical Technology or equivalent experience

  • Ability to work independently and within teams
  • Ability to travel domestically (5-20%) and internationally as project needs may be require for technical support
