The Opportunity
The Utility Relations Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with utility companies across the country, negotiating favorable terms, and ensuring that Flock Safetys deployments proceed quickly and smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, deep understanding of utility operations, and the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with utility companies to support nationwide deployments
Negotiate contracts, access agreements, and service terms that facilitate efficient project execution
Identify and resolve potential operational or regulatory obstacles with utilities to ensure timely deployments
Collaborate closely with internal teams including Permitting, CAD, Project Management, Product Operations & Regional Operations to align utility strategies with project needs
Monitor utility trends, policies, and operational changes that may impact Flock Safety projects
Serve as the primary point of contact for all utility-related communications and escalations
Implement strategies to standardize and streamline interactions with utilities, reducing deployment timelines and costs
Provide strategic guidance and reporting to leadership on utility partnerships, risks, and opportunities.
The Skillset
5+ years of experience in utility relations, project management, or strategic operations within the utility sector.
Proven track record negotiating favorable terms with utility companies and resolving operational challenges.
Strong understanding of utility operations, policies, and regulatory environments.
Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term relationship building and immediate project needs.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to travel nationally as needed to manage relationships and projects.

The First 30 Days
Learn Flock Safetys projects, internal processes, and utility landscape while shadowing ongoing negotiations.
Map key utility partners, document contacts and processes, and identify initial pain points in utility engagement.
The First 60 Days
Begin actively managing utility relationships, lead negotiations, and track requests to support deployment planning.
Strengthen communication, standardize interactions, and provide regular updates on progress and risks to leadership.
90 Days & Beyond
Fully own utility relations, negotiate nationwide agreements, and implement process improvements to accelerate deployments.
Deliver a Utility Relations Playbook, report efficiency gains, and present a 6-month strategic roadmap to leadership.
Salary & Equity
In this role, youll receive a starting salary between $90,000 and $110,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education / training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.
