POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Technology Programs Coordinator (Coordinator) provides support and coordination for youth technology programs and initiatives within the Youth Empowerment department. They are responsible for identifying, coordinating, and implementing a variety of programs and initiatives that build skills, provide opportunities to explore job and career opportunities, and empower youth to pursue their interests and build upon their talents.

The Coordinator is responsible for supporting the operations of the CLUES Teen Tech Center (Center) in our Saint Paul location. Their core responsibilities include, among other duties, supporting youth in their project development, daily coordination and maintenance of the Center, as well as some administrative duties. The CLUES Teen Tech Center offers young people (ages 14 to 18) the opportunity to work on projects they find meaningful to their lives, using computers and technology. The programs within the Center provides support and resources for young people to pursue their interests and build upon their talents. Youth can design their own music, art, newsletters, robots, science simulations, computer games, animation, and much more.

Position Type : Regular

Schedule : Full-Time. Generally, Monday - Friday Office hours. Evenings or weekends may be required.

Estimated Salary / Pay : $23.00 to $27.00 (depending on experience & qualifications). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate program development, design, and implementation in collaboration with department staff and organization partners. Develop programs that are technology-oriented and tailored to the interests and needs of youth participants.

Programs may encompass a wide range of topics including photography, filmmaking, robotics, coding, etc.

Coordinate project development and support Teen Tech Center members as they work on completing a variety of projects (e.g., help them come up with ideas, gather materials, get started, locate mentors to work with them, and support their ongoing work).

Support youth in planning for the future, including pursuing academic and job opportunities that leverage their skills and experience.

Create and deliver workshops that cater to varying skill levels and age groups. Workshops should be interactive, engaging, and designed to develop technical and creative abilities in participants.

Facilitate hands-on workshops in topics such as graphic design, video editing, and other creative disciplines.

Oversee instruction and mentorship in robotics, coding, and other technology-related subjects.

Coordinate mentor outreach efforts with a focus on recruiting expert mentors, in the field of technology or STEM, to support programs, workshops, etc.

Train, and support volunteer mentors, ensuring they work effectively with youth.

Provide basic computer maintenance, including file management, trouble-shooting, and technical support to Teen Tech Center youth and mentors.

Provide administrative support for Center programs, including keeping records of participants and keeping the Center space organized.

Coordinate community outreach initiatives to involve a diverse group of young people, parents, teachers, and community leaders in technology programs.

Foster community building by creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for youth participants.

Develop strategies to engage and retain young learners, ensuring their personal and educational growth goals are met.

Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programs through regular evaluation and feedback collection. Provide timely reports on program outcomes, participant achievements, and areas for improvement.

Support other programs and activities at CLUES with Teen Tech Center expertise and resources.

Assist with identifying and obtaining program partnership and fund-raising opportunities.

Support with communication of Center philosophy, goals, and results to external sources.

Participate in all partnership and network meetings (i.e BBTTC / Clubhouse Network meetings), sharing ideas and issues, and supporting collaborative projects between a variety of partners and organizations.

General Duties

Promote the mission, operating values, and agency services of CLUES within the community.

Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, agency policies and other applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards.

Carry out all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS

This position may supervise program mentors, interns, and volunteers.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education, Experience & Key Abilities

Associate's degree if visual arts, graphic design, technology, education, or related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

2+ years of experience with youth programming preferred.

High interest in youth community building and program leadership required.

Experience coordinating and delivering youth related group lessons, workshops, and activities preferred.

Bilingual in Spanish and English, and experience exercising cultural sensitivity and awareness working with Latinx youth required.

Proficiency in operating sound recording studios and equipment, as well as experience in filmmaking and photography, is desirable.

Experience, or high desire to learn and train, in the following technologies : Adobe Creative Suite, sound recording studio operations, filmmaking, photography, robotics, coding and others.

Demonstrated ability to reach out to youth, parents, educators, and community leaders.

Experience with computers and interest in technology as a creative and empowering tool.

Interpersonal skills, including an ability to get along with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities and a talent for making people feel welcome and included.

Passion for staying updated with emerging technologies and trends in youth education.

Proven ability to design and deliver engaging workshops and educational content.

Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of participants and the organization.

Passion for learning and helping others to learn.

Excellent organizational skills.

Some travel may be required.

Language Skills

Effective communication in English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing, required.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written materials, including reports, contracts, and proposals.

Ability to effectively present ideas and information in an organized and effective manner.

Ability to maintain accurate documentation and respond appropriately to questions from clients, co-workers, management and external parties.

Computer Skills

Proficient working knowledge of email software, the internet, databases, and common Windows-based programs, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.

Must be willing to attend training to advance technical skills and maintain appropriate skill levels to perform job duties.
