Responsibilities Work in a 25-bed Med / Surg Tele unit within an academic medical center Patient population includes multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, open fractures, spinal surgeries, small bowel obstructions, and abdominal surgeries Average daily census is 21 patients with RN ratios of 1 : 5-6, depending on acuity Care for patients with surgical drains, chest tubes, trachs, wound vacs, and complex wound care needs Telemetry monitoring provided remotely by centralized techs Uses Epic EMR; experience preferred Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing systems Day shifts begin at 6 : 30 AM, with a 36-hour schedule option available Required to work every other weekend and 75% of holidays Floating may occur to any adult unit based on competencies No on-call requirements First-time travelers will be considered depending on experience Team includes CNAs, unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, 24 / 7 RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and trauma service / residents Nurses are expected to start their own IVs, with USGIV-trained staff available Scrub color required : Royal blue Free parking is available on site Unit culture is friendly, cohesive, and teamwork-oriented Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental training Requirements Active NC or compact state RN license Current certifications : BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg Tele nursing experience required Experience with PCA, chest tubes, trachs, surgical drains, ketamine drips, Heparin, and set-rate cardiac drips required Epic EMR experience preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-612142.
