Overview

Public Health – Seattle & King County is seeking a Patient Services Representative to join our vibrant multi-disciplinary and diverse team at our Downtown Public Health Clinic in the delivery of health services to the county's most vulnerable people. This is a FLOAT full time career service position. Our clients are culturally, socially, and linguistically diverse. Work Schedule

This full-time (1.0 FTE) position typically works Monday through Friday 8 : 00 am – 5 : 00 pm . Schedule will be based on work assignment. These positions are subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and overtime eligible.

Work Location

The work associated with this position will be performed onsite. The successful candidate may be expected to report to the office for onsite work typically ( 5 times per week). The frequency of onsite work may vary based on business or operational needs and be adjusted accordingly. The primary onsite location is ( Downtown Public Health - 2124 4th Ave. Seattle, WA 98104 ). Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

The Patient Services Representatives are the initial contact a client has when they come into or call a Public Health Center. Responsibilities include :

  • Welcoming all clients, providing exceptional customer service, which includes treating all people with respect and warmth
  • Screening all clients and visitors to the clinic for recent travel, COVID-19 symptoms and COVID Vaccination status
  • Utilizing language interpreters when appropriate to meet clients' needs
  • Identifying when triage by a healthcare professional is necessary, and quickly identifying potential emergency situations
  • Registering clients, requesting financial and insurance information, verifying insurance coverage, calculating fees, collecting payments, and scheduling appointments
  • Coordinating patient and information flow while maintaining patient confidentiality, and complying with Federal HIPAA laws

During and after client visits, responsibilities include :

  • Accurately completing documentation and data information for billing in a timely fashion, and processing referrals for field staff
  • Other duties include using a variety of computer programs including Epic (an electronic health record program) and Microsoft Office products
  • Making appointment reminder and outreach phone calls, making copies, faxing, and other general office and clerical duties

  • Are adaptive, analytical thinkers and able to look at processes with a lens for potential improvements and added efficiencies.
  • Enjoy working with a team, are cooperative, encourage collaboration, and can work with teammates to find collectively beneficial solutions
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information
  • Know their strengths and weaknesses, seek feedback, will admit their mistakes, and quickly learn from them; able to maintain composure under pressure and travel to other public health sites sometimes with short notice
