Overview

Title : Quality Engineer – Approvals

Worksite Location : Mason, OH

Responsibilities

• Focus on customer satisfaction through continuous improvement and ensure compliance with the Quality Policy of VEGA Americas.
• Identify and implement corrections and opportunities for improvement, individually and through teams.
• Follow procedures and work instructions in compliance with ISO 9001.
• Assure that the product meets drawings and customer requirements as applicable; identify and prevent processing of non-conforming parts or processes.
• Troubleshoot and assist with problem solving and quality concern resolution (e.g., 5-whys; cause / effect diagrams).
• Document problem resolutions and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Sales, Field Service, and representatives to understand, define, and communicate customer expectations, including customer satisfaction measures.
• Monitor and help control scrap; perform Pareto analysis and corrective action.
• Provide disposition of nonconforming material in a timely, economical manner and ensure proper preventive action is taken.
• Develop, revise, and maintain process documentation to support quality improvement.
• Measure and analyze key quality performance data; make recommendations for opportunities to improve quality.
• Coordinate with VEGA Germany and VEGA Americas Engineering for regulatory and approval certification; act as primary liaison to VEGA Germany regarding quality systems and product questions.
• When appropriate, in cooperation with Purchasing, communicate with suppliers to identify and correct quality problems; support vendor quality objectives; maintain supplier and component history and records.
• Facilitate resolution and communication of customer problems identified through LifeLines (Corrective Action system).
• Travel up to 10% internationally.

Qualifications / Requirements

High school diploma or GED; 2 years of experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management System environmental aspects including calibration and corrective action systems; 2 years of experience ensuring development and manufacturing processes meet safety standards and regulations in hazardous locations (e.g., UL / CSA / IEC 60079, ISO 9001, ATEX, IECEx); 1 year of experience auditing systems based on IQS standards; multi-country liaison experience; proven experience working with direct sales and field service to meet customer expectations within manufacturing durable goods; demonstrated understanding of quality engineering principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., 5-whys, cause / effect diagrams); proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word).
