Salary range : $95,000-$115,000 DOE
This person will need to be hands-on with manufacturing background. We\u2019re not interested in a person with mostly desk skills.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong background in composite manufacturing to lead our quality function. This role is critical in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 standards, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring our products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations.
As a hands-on leader, you will work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams, while mentoring a team of quality inspectors and technicians. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact within a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company9s Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 and customer requirements.
- Lead, coach, and manage quality assurance and control staff.
- Oversee in-process inspections, product verification, corrective / preventive actions (CAPA), and nonconformance management.
- Maintain quality documentation, inspection plans, and records.
- Manage internal / external audits, including ISO audits, customer audits, and supplier quality assessments.
- Track and report on quality metrics such as scrap rates, customer returns, and first-pass yield; conduct root cause investigations and drive improvements.
- Partner with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues and support new product introduction (NPI).
- Ensure compliance with material specifications, drawings, and process parameters specific to composites and radome products.
- Lead Material Review Board (MRB) processes and oversee disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Support regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance as it relates to quality.
- Promote a culture of accountability, ownership, and proactive quality practices throughout the facility.
Must have Certification
ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing, or related technical field.Min 57 years of quality leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 systems, document control, auditing, and management reviews.Proven experience leading quality teams and driving continuous improvement.Skilled in using quality tools such as FMEA, RCA, 5-Why, Pareto, SPC, and Control Plans.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Experience in composite manufacturing (fiberglass, carbon fiber, resin infusion, curing processes, etc.).Good to have background in aerospace / defense components or radome products.Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, or other defense / aerospace standards.Knowledge of NDT methods for composites.Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.Proficiency in QMS software, ERP platforms, or statistical tools (e.g., Minitab).Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a plus.Seniority level
