The Molecular Genomics Core is looking for a highly motivated Lab Technician I to fill an immediate need within our Next Generation Sequencing technology group.
This person will be expected to understand and follow protocols to process samples to produce high-quality sample processing for downstream Genomics applications and equipment.
The candidate will be detail-oriented, responsible, and possess exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
Job Accountabilities :
This position will :
- Perform day-to-day activities as part of the high-capacity, high-throughput Next Generation sequencing team including, but not limited to, DNA / RNA extraction and quality control.
- Develop proficiency with Agilent BioAnalyzer and Tapestation, automated nucleic extraction platforms, and other nucleic acid QC measurements.
- Maintain, manage, and communicate detailed work, project, and billing logs.
- Operate and monitor equipment to assure the optimal performance and maintenance of all related laboratory equipment.
- Assist in data analysis, troubleshoot issues, and communicate technical information to end-users.
Preferred Field of Expertise :
Background in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or related field strongly preferred. Experience in Illumina Next-Generation Sequencing applications and hardware is a strong plus.
A working knowledge of laboratory equipment, project management, and research protocols is required.

Preferred Education : Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Experience : 1 year
The hourly rate range for this position is $21.07 - $22.50. Minimum Requirements :
Minimum Education : High school or equivalent, combined experience / education as a substitute for minimum education.
Minimum Experience : 6 - 12 months, combined education / experience as a substitute for minimum experience.
Minimum Field of Expertise : Ability to follow detailed instructions, oral and written.
