Job Description Summary

The Assistant Director for Brand Experience and Community Relations is responsible for managing the visual brand identity (digital and print) for all department services, programs, and initiatives and coordinating communications efforts related to corporate sponsorship, fundraising and community engagement.

This includes oversight of the Campus Recreation visual identity, social media presence, website design, and print materials promoting physical activity, wellbeing, involvement, and revenue generation.

Job Description

Essential Functions :

Manages departmental brands and images representing Campus Recreation, ensuring a unified departmental identity and consistent messaging across all marketing mediums.

Coordinates and implements promotional campaigns and projects, which includes managing timelines, producing materials (both digital and print), and evaluating and assessing campaign effectiveness.

Collaborates with Campus Life Marketing to develop and adhere to a strategic marketing and communications plan that aligns with divisional and departmental goals, helps achieve long-term collaborative objectives, and elevates the community's opportunities to learn about and engage with the various resources available.

Develops and oversees the Campus Recreation social media and website strategy, content creation, and analytics, emphasizing storytelling and engagement for community members, families, and donors.

Manages the student marketing team, which is made up of part-time student staff, including marketing assistants, graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and website editors.

Stays abreast of marketing trends and communication strategies to meet departmental needs and provides training and guidance across the department.

Assists Executive Director with coordination and cultivation of Club Sports Parents & Family Board.

Develops and implements an equitable and sustainable marketing and communications strategy for club sports teams across all mediums, emphasizing the annual Deacs Day of Giving.

Assists Executive Director with communications and activation efforts (both internal and external) related to fundraising and sponsorships through funds, in-kind goods or services, or a combination.

Develop assessments to evaluate and improve effectiveness.

Ensures professional and effective marketing for revenue-generating programs (i.e., personal training, swim lessons, and facility rentals).

Other Functions :

Serves as a motivated, enthusiastic, and hands-on leader who inspires and fosters a creative environment for all staff.

Prioritizes efforts to meet deadlines, effectively manage resources, and build collaborative partnerships to achieve expected outcomes.

Develops and manages departmental marketing budget.

May represent the department and university at events and programs that support cultivating business opportunities.

Serve on ad hoc communications cohorts and committees, as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field.

Minimum twoyears of related professional experience

Demonstrates high-level understanding and implementation of marketing and communications best practices and emerging trends.

Experience conducting campaigns and community engagement via design thinking, social platforms, emerging platforms, and data analytics for successful implementation and evaluation.

Proven experience in leading projects and managing workflow.

Demonstrated experience in working autonomously with initiative and creative thinking.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate, develop partnerships and solid relationships, and work effectively as a fast-paced, results-oriented team member.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to promoting healthy, active lifestyles.

Occasional night and weekend work.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Prior supervisory experience, preferably with college students and / or entry-level employees.

Prior marketing and communications experience in a collegiate environment.

Accountabilities

Works independently and collaboratively.

Supervises Campus Recreation student marketing team.

Physical Requirements :

Light walking.

Occasional lifting or carrying equipment up to 30 lbs.

Bending, stooping, reaching and climbing.

Environmental Conditions :

Indoor / Outdoor.

Some exposure to hot / humid / cold temperatures and weather conditions like rain / snow.
