Position Overview : The Casework Support Specialist provides case planning services and case planning support within Specialized Treatment Programs.
The Casework Support Specialist develops and maintains relationships with families of client youth who may or may not be physically in care and ensures that they receive comprehensive services throughout their participation in the program.
Major responsibilities include transporting youth to appointments, court and home visits, supervising visits, AWOC due diligence, home assessments, court appearance, and coordinating family visits.
The Casework Support Specialist shows dedication and willingness to work within the Integrated Treatment Model (ITM), supporting and carrying out the functions of the model to best serve the population.
The Casework Support Specialist is expected to have a nonjudgmental approach that focuses on skill building and basic principles of behavior (reinforcement, extinction, blocking and shaping).
The Casework Support Specialist is required to function as part of a team, committing to modeling pro social behavior and building positive relationships with all residents.
The Casework Support Specialist will also assist in the integration of the Integrated Treatment Model (ITM) through the Rose Hard-to-Place Cottage and an abbreviated version in the Rapid Intervention Center within the Children’s Village.
This includes training and visit coaching. The position requires availability for evening, weekend hours and travel.
Position Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field, required
- Prior work experience in social service, mental health or child welfare field preferred.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License, required.
- Knowledge and experience in child welfare, juvenile justice, preferred
- Knowledge of NYC neighborhoods, juvenile justice and court systems, preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, required.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, required.
- Demonstrated administrative skills.
- Computer literate.
- Bi-lingual Spanish, preferred.
