We are seeking a Commodity Buyer to join a well-established producer and distributor of specialty products in Detroit, MI.
This role focuses on the procurement of specific commodities, ensuring cost-effective and reliable sourcing while managing supplier relationships and market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities :
- Strategic Sourcing : Conduct research to identify suppliers and develop cost-saving strategies for key commodities.
- Supplier Relationship Management : Maintain and build relationships with suppliers, addressing quality concerns and performance issues.
- Negotiation : Negotiate pricing and terms to achieve cost savings and secure favorable agreements.
- Cost Optimization : Monitor market trends and commodity prices to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Risk Management : Identify and mitigate potential risks in the commodity supply chain.
- Contract Management : Assist in drafting and managing supplier contracts, ensuring compliance.
- Quality Assurance : Work with quality control teams to ensure supplier compliance with standards.
Qualifications and Skills :
- 2-5 years of experience in procurement or as a Commodity Buyer
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with supply chain dynamics and commodity markets
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Education and Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Prior experience in procurement or commodity buying is preferred
Work Environment :
Fast-paced environment with occasional travel to meet suppliers or attend events
