Position Summary

The Quality Control Inspector Lead is responsible for overseeing the inspection department and ensuring that cable and wire products are inspected to ensure they meet all quality standards, specifications, and regulations.

This includes performing visual inspections, and dimensional measurements, training and leading the other inspectors, and working with the Operations Manager to coordinate the inspection team.

The QC Inspector Lead must also be able to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.

The Quality Control Inspector Lead is a respectful team player that works well with diverse internal team members. This position is ambitious, self-motivated, results-driven, and demonstrates problem solving skills with sound judgment.

General Job Description

  • Lead Inspector of materials, components, and final product to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Perform visual inspections of cable and wire products to identify defects.
  • Work with Production Supervisor and Quality Engineering Supervisor to coordinate inspections to ensure Production and Quality needs are met.
  • Measure dimensions of cable and wire products to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Document the results of all inspections and tests.
  • Detect and report unusual or non-conforming documentation, materials, conditions, or product to Quality Engineering Supervisor.
  • AS9102 FAI's.
  • Customer Source requests and compilation of other quality deliverables.
  • Responsible for the oversight of training for inspectors.
  • Back up the Production Supervisor with "shipping paper requests" for packing slip / C of C's.
  • Work with various internal personnel and departments to communicate and resolve quality issues.
  • Create, update, compile, save and maintain documentation into internal database.
  • When required, help with continuous improvement efforts.
  • Comply with company policies and quality management system.
  • Maintain and create a clean, uncluttered environment that reduces waste and optimizes productivity by following the 5S steps : sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain.
  • More additional responsibilities may be applicable per the Quality Engineering Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience in quality control, preferably in the cable and wire manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with visual inspection and dimensional measurement.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office and Adobe.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Overtime may be required

  • Work is performed in a standard office and manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and moving parts.
