Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay.
There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county : Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC).
Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Position is located at Osawatomie State Hospital, days / hours may vary. This position may require you to work weekends.
A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.

and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion.
The Chief Medical Director will provide supervision, including chart reviews and annual evaluations, of the internal medicine and family medicine physicians and APRNs as well as oversight of ancillary services such as the laboratory, physical therapist, and dentist.
They will prepare a monthly schedule for the internal medicine / family practice providers and arrange for coverage when providers are on leave.
They will participate in assigned committees such as Infection Control, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Risk Management, Fiscal Compliance, and Environment of Care.
Participation in hospital-wide performance improvement activities and other medical staff functions will be expected as assigned.
In addition to administrative duties, the Chief Medical Director will provide direct medical care to patients including physical and neurological examinations, follow-up visits, and consultations as requested by psychiatrists and nurses.
They will enter documentation into the electronic health record and medication orders into the pharmacy ordering system in a timely manner.
The essential functions of this position may require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and / or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques.
Be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.
Qualifications : Successful completion of medical school training. Completion of residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
Board certified / board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Active and unrestricted medical license in Kansas.
Ability to work harmoniously with other physicians and hospital staff. Ability to use an electronic health record.
Positions in this class require that at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services.
Persons hired must also pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and DisabilityServices.
