Salary range for this position is : $33,864 / yr - $39,305 / yr.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
Under the supervision of the Director of Education and Leadership Programs, the Student Support Specialist will be responsible for planning and facilitating orientation workshops for ARE and Leadership programs students and program faculty, attending class sessions to support student attendance and achievement, as well as to liaise with program tutors.
Maintaining detailed records of students progress, grades, GPA, internship availability, etc., and sharing with program faculty and partners.
Coordinating regular meetings with program faculty to discuss student learning and sessions with the Learning Support Network (tutoring center).
Meeting with ARE and Leadership programs students individually to assess progress, make necessary referrals, etc. Facilitating study skills workshops.
Planning and facilitating other enrichment opportunities including field trips, graduations, career panels, speaker series, etc.
Creating and distributing all program marketing materials including fliers, applications, etc.

What you will be working on :
- Interacting with students.
- Support racially and culturally diverse student population that spans a broad range of languages, identities, socio-economic levels, and educational experiences.
- Provide academic and professional wraparound support to all students in ARE and Leadership programs including but not limited to, successful study habits, work experience, transfer preparation, financial aid assistance, referrals to on- and off-campus services as needed, etc.
- Use intrusive advising methods to remind students about enrollment, tuition, scholarship deadlines, and other important information on a regular basis.
- Provide enrollment in ARE and Leadership programs courses to student cohorts
- Provide electronic and in-person support for applicant questions.
- Review applications for program readiness
- Communicate with applicants, including sending admission materials
- Work with the Registrar, Workforce, community based partners and Financial Aid to accept new ARE and Leadership Programs students
- Develop, coordinate, and implement new student orientation, summer bridge and supervisor orientations
- Coordinate and conduct information sessions at community based social service agencies

Physical Requirements :
The Position
Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to Perform duties.
The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.
- Encounters frequent interruptions throughout the workday.
- Is regularly required to provide 1 : 1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer exercising repetitive hand motion with or without reasonable accommodation.
