Our brand NEW Emergency Department-based Observation Unit at
Hartford Hospital is a fast-paced, 20 bed unit devoted to the management of
patients requiring observation status. Our team of Registered Nurses,
Providers, Techs, administrative professionals and support staff is dedicated
specifically to this unit, where we continue to provide safe, personalized,
compassionate care to all our patients. This units focus is on the provision
of care to patients requiring a period of Observation before a medical decision
can be made regarding patient admission vs. discharge. All rooms are equipped
with new, state of the art technology to support even the most acute of
patients.
Position Summary
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Unit Manager, the Patient Administrative Associate performs delegated functions as a member of a patient care team by providing administrative support and communicating with members of the health care team, patients and families.
This role contributes to the successful operation of the work area and functions in accordance with all existing regulatory and hospital standards, policies and procedures.
Reports to Manager, Patient Unit.
Facilitates communications for the work area by : providing reception, information and assistance to customers; responding to requests for information regarding patient condition;
coordinating and communicating information promptly, clearly and accurately to internal and external customers; and, as directed, requisitioning / facilitating the scheduling of diagnostic, therapeutic and other ancillary services.
Qualifications
REQUIRED :
Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English, and perform basic Mathematics.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer skills required
Ability to perform physical effort as specified by position physical requirements and occupational exposure form.
PREFERRED :
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Hospital based or physician office work experience.
Demonstrated competencies in a related health field at Hartford Hospital
CPR validation may be required within three months of hire depending upon work area specific requirement
