Position Summary :
The Buyer is an entry level administrative position responsible for supporting the Director of Purchasing by sourcing and ensuring the flow of materials and / or services and data management.
The position requires the ability to learn and develop knowledge and skills to support purchasing activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Manage the administrative functions of the buying process to include supplier relationships, pricing files, verification of invoice accuracy, expediting of materials and other duties as assigned
- Assist in identifying and researching opportunities for cost savings
- Support the Director of Purchasing on an assortment of analytical and forecasting projects
- Confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, product, and service information
- Communicate with suppliers to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, price, quality documentation, etc
- Data Analysis associated with supply chain efficiencies such as Quality, Spend and Contract Management, etc.
- Build partnerships with important partners including suppliers as well as internal partners in manufacturing, quality, planning, accounting, and sales
- Assist with tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Assist in RFP process, qualification of vendor / items, and the onboarding process for a seamless transition.
Position Requirements
- 2+ years related experience is preferred
- Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects
- Detail oriented with ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with SAP and / or Microsoft AX a plus
