Job Summary :

Ensure the availability and distribution of electrical power to the UCD campuses, for use by, but not limited to the following systems : energy management (EMCS), lighting, power for telecommunications, computer network, and a multitude of other power applications including being responsible for the computerized Power Management Control System (PMCS).

Inspects, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on electrical systems. Responds to emergencies pertaining to electrical power.

Position is responsible for High Voltage Switching, maintenance and repair. This includes not only the campus electrical system, but also the main campus substation and Research 1 and Research Position functions.

Responsible for the computerized PMCS system to ensure that the emergency power is provided appropriated when an outage occurs.

This system is critical to the entire UCD mission and especially the research area.

Key Responsibilities :

• The position speaks to customer and staff in an informative manner regarding repairs needed to fix the equipment.
• The work involves the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
• It includes planning new, or modifying existing installations, providing access for future maintenance, making installations, connecting the power source, testing circuits and repairing faulty equipment or systems.
• Work is assigned by means of verbal or written orders and is carried out by the position in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado

Minimum Qualifications :

• Two years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assignment to this position.
• Necessary Special Qualification : Journeyman Electrical License
• Substitution : Appropriate education or successful completion of formalized apprenticeship program will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications :

Completion of vocational / trades school with job experience in electrical trades.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Mechanical ability, and Physical ability
• Experience that demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds

• Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written form which includes the ability to check for typographical, grammatical and spelling errors.

Anticipated Pay Range :

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $5,115 - $5,627 per month.

This position is eligible for overtime
