The Transportation Coordinator (TC), reporting to the Operations Manager, interfaces with supplier, DC’s and carriers while managing daily shipments.
This daily management function would include interaction with GPC suppliers, carrier service, automation, and selection.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Add / update order comments critical to carrier communication and service reporting
- Gather and interpret carrier capacity information
- Monitor automated carrier selection, assignment, rating and tender processes
- Monitor carrier pickup and delivery performance
- Communicate pickup and / or delivery problems to Suppliers, DC’s , Jobbers
- Monitor shipment status information
- Monitor EDI transactions and process errors
- Manage error handling and exceptions
- Resolve service issues related to carrier claims, volumes, on-time performance and automation
- Manage detention / demurrage / re-consignment issues
- Provide shipment status information to suppliers / DC’s / Jobbers, based on communications with carrier
- Communicate delivery or shipment problems to customer, as necessary
- Accountable / Commitment-Continuous Improvement Initiatives
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- College Degree Preferred
