Job Goal :
Provide training and support for interns, business co-workers, families and district personnel to ensure success during the worksite rotations and / or a competitive job.
This person will be responsible for setting goals, objectives and training of his / her intern (s) on a short-term basis, and coordinating services with others.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : 1. Teaches the essential task / duties / core skills of the job to the Project SEARCH intern
- Each skills trainer is assigned several students and will provide individual support depending on each intern and job task needs.
- Because the goal is independence, the skills trainer builds natural support and reduces the amount of time spent with each intern as core skills are developed.
2. Participates in skills trainer training (provided by Project SEARCH) 3. Works with instructor to assess student skills and gather baseline data 4.
Works with business liaison, department managers, instructor and fellow skills trainers to develop internship sites, write job descriptions, task lists, job analysis and plan for necessary modifications for the internships and competitive jobs.
5. Communicates effectively with Project SEARCH instructor, other skills trainers, internship department managers / mentors, co-workers, family members, and school and agency personnel as it relates to the student being trained.
H H 6. Works with managers and co-workers to educate on disability awareness 7. Assists in training interns in the interview process in order for interns to gain both internships and competitive positions.
8. Learns the internship duties and makes any modifications (label cabinets, simplifies written instructions, etc) necessary to the successful completion of the job.
9. Works with the manager and peer mentor regularly to discuss issues and solve problems 10. Completes necessary evaluations, reports and other documentation 11.
Adheres to and promotes standards of the host business and / or competitive work site in order to promote performance, productivity, quality and efficiency.
12. Demonstrates daily work assignment responsibilities : is accountable for all hours assigned, is punctual and regular in attendance and attends appropriate training activities.
13. Other duties may be assigned. Length of Contract : 177 contract days. Salary commensurate with experience on the negotiated agreement of the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).
Evaluation : Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Special Education Coordinator in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies, state law, and the negotiated agreement with the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES : None. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE : High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and Must meet one of the following credential requirements :
- Two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 hours of college coursework)
- An Associate’s degree (or higher)
- Passed the Workkeys Test (Bronze +) or ParaPro Assessment (455+)
Experience with youth and adults with disabilities is preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : None required. LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.
REASONING SKILLS : Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Ability to use computer and computer related programs and other technologies needed to perform essential job functions.
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
Ability to organize and chair or facilitate committees and meetings. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
