Shop Supervisor - Machining

Ruhrpumpen is searching for an experienced production supervisor to manage our machining department.

Job Summary Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in CNC and Conventional machining of work, applying knowledge of machine shop procedures, machine tool setup and operating techniques and production machining methods.  Able to support, direct and manage the workforce and work area to safely produce quality customer requirements within budgeted costs.

Responsibilities and Duties Directs workers engaged in machining of work pieces Monitor job hours for efficiency and make appropriate changes to ensure on-time delivery Develops and studies schedules and estimates time, cost, and labor estimates for products, services, and / or completion of job assignments Create competitive tact times by product component and communicate these standards to the master scheduler to facilitate on-time shipment to meet customer requirements Research and evaluate the effectiveness of machinery, equipment, and shop procedures, recommending and implementing changes to improve operational efficiency Manage the evaluation and development of direct reports to support organizational and operational strategy and performance metrics Train and assist others in correcting or preventing deficiencies in the quality of their workmanship Enforce safety policies and set expectations Qualifications and Skills Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Business or Equivalent Education or Experience.

CNC and Conventional Machining Experience 5-10 years  At least 5 years supervisory experience, preferably in a union environment Knowledge Knowledgeable of various machine shop procedures and operating techniques 7 to 10 years previous machining experience.

Knowledge of Lean manufacturing is preferred Ability to communicate, develop and execute action plans to achieve defined objectives Knowledge of the production machining methods Ability to use Microsoft products and learn internal company software This position may Supervise or Lead other areas as required Physical Requirements Prolonged Sitting or Standing Ability to hear by phone or in person Ability to lift up to 25lbs Walking, Kneeling, Stooping, Twisting, Climbing and Reaching  VEVRAA / Federal Contractor / EEO / AAP Powered by JazzHR
