Summary :
The Center Director is responsible for the instructional leadership, management and operation of the organization’s early childhood programs.
Responsibilities and Duties :
- Develop and maintain a teacher observation schedule that focuses on optimizing curriculum, instruction and assessment practices.
- Regularly observe lead teachers during the instructional day.
- Support staff development, planning, review and scheduling.
- Ensure a safe environment for children, families and staff.
- Finalize the enrollment process with new families.
- Develop and maintain systems that support sound operating decisions.
- Schedule, manage and support center staff on a daily basis.
- Assist with the evaluation and purchasing of materials, equipment and supplies.
- Ensure the center’s compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and accreditations.
- Positively communicate with parents and / or families regarding CDC policies, programs and student achievement.
- Create a weekly staff work schedule based on forecasted enrollment numbers that will ensure ratio guidelines are met at all times.
- Administer annual performance evaluations for staff in a timely manner.
- Provide a comprehensive orientation for new staff members.
- Informally monitor staff practices and provide ongoing feedback to staff members regarding job performance.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism when communicating with employees, families or outside agencies.
- Create a safe and nurturing culture in the center that embodies the mission of CDC.
- Adhere to all CDC policies and procedures as set forth in the policy manual.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field; or an associate’s degree in education or a related field may be eligible with appropriate coursework / experience.
- Must possess or obtain required state and federal clearances.
- At least 2 years of management, supervisory or leadership experience.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional leadership and organizational skills.
- Proper attendance is required. Employees are expected to arrive on time, every day, able and available to work.
- May require travel to other centers within the county.
Physical Requirements :
- Must be able to stand for long periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of sitting, walking and occasional bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and grasping as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
- Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers and hands to simple movements of feet, legs and torso as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
- Lifting and carrying of children and / or objects up to 50 pounds.
