About the Company and Payroll Analyst Opportunity :
Our repeat client, a big name in the local education industry, is looking for a contractual Payroll Analyst to assist during a system implementation.
This position is expected to go through January 2025.
- The Payroll Analyst will assist the payroll department with various payroll and analysis tasks
- Reports to the Payroll Manager
- This is a temporary position 100% in office in Towson, MD. Possibility for hybrid flexibility after training. NO FULLY REMOTE CANDIDATES ALLOWED.
- Schedule : Monday- Friday 8am-4pm
Responsibilities of the Payroll Analyst :
- Review, analyze, process and authorize payroll related matters
- Work collaboratively with the payroll supervisors to interpret policies and procedures and serves as a back-up to the supervisors in their absence
- Prepare payroll calendars and schedules each fiscal year for distribution
- Attend meetings, participate in discussions regarding configuration of systems, and implementation planning
- Process supplemental pay adjustments for payroll representative.
- Review regular and supplemental payroll run for accuracy. Provide backup to the Payroll Associate responsible for banking and supplemental payroll
- Prepare and submit ACH and check request from the weekly payroll for processing
- Analyze Retirement reports for accuracy. Review adjustments made by the payroll representatives.
- Prepare and submit weekly transmittals for unions and exports files to the appropriate vendors
- Update new union members and respond to questions or concerns received from union offices
- Authorize automatic remittance for taxes and retirement deductions
- Reconcile garnishment checks / reports and prepares for mailing
- Prepare and reconcile quarterly and yearly tax reports and respond and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Collaborate with supervisors to prepare, reconcile, and respond to needed corrections of the annual W2’s
- Files required annual reports and year end reports
- Prepares deduction and leave accrual schedules
- Create and maintain system tables in payroll applications (e.g., CGI and UKG Ready)
- Provide guidance to Human Resources regarding payroll status related to new hires, employees, and separated employees
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements for the Payroll Analyst :
- 3+ years of progressive payroll experience
- Experience with electronic time and attendance reporting systems a plus
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Knowledge of payroll practices and regulations required
- Proficient with Excel
- Independent worker who is not afraid to ask questions
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be able to pass a background check and fingerprinting
