This is an opportunity to join a fast-paced law firm in Brookhaven, GA. Our firm focuses primarily on Family, Immigration, and landlord / tenant civil matters.

We are passionate about helping clients through their most difficult trials when they are dealing with family and immigration matters.

Responsibilities include all areas of case management : discovery, motions, hearings, and trials. Excellent opportunity to gain trial experience with a knowledgeable and dedicated team.

MUST already be a member of the State Bar of Georgia and Northern District of Georgia.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office products
  • Proficiency with West Law Next
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and cases
  • Associate Attorney will handle status conferences, temporary hearings, uncontested final hearings and trials in family law cases.

Associate Attorney will handle pre-litigation, written discovery, meditations and depositions in litigation matters

Compensation :

$50,000 - $65,000 yearly

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
  • Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys
  • Keep files organized to make sure the most recent updates are accessible to other attorneys, paralegals, and staff
  • Communicate with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently
  • Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of family law experience.
  • Will not accept a candidate who does not have litigation experience and is afraid of going to trial tomorrow
  • Must be proficient in performing legal research and writing
  • Must be proficient in drafting pleadings, briefs, affidavits, discovery, and proposed orders, as well as correspondence, memorandum, and opinion letters
  • Must be well-versed in the rules of evidence, introducing evidence, and civil procedure. Experience with taking and defending depositions is a plus
  • Must be barred to practice law in Georgia
  • Must have first-chaired at least 25 trials without support or assistance
  • Must be able to show empathy to clients who need support
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office products
  • Proficiency with West Law Next
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and cases

Required license or certification :

  • Handle trial from beginning to end
  • Jury Trial Experience
  • Notary
  • Georgia Bar License
  • Open to being admitted into the Northern District of Georgia (if not already barred)
