Soundview Consultants is searching for a Civil CAD Drafter for our Gig Harbor office. Be involved in projects with our Stream Relocation and Restoration team , focused on environmental restoration for civil engineering projects and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves unique challenges.

As a Civil CAD Drafter, you will assist with preparing design plans and estimate quantities for complex projects, including river restoration, biotechnical bank stabilization, irrigation infrastructure, floodplain studies, fish passage structures and fish screens, wetland mitigation, erosion control, and environmental permitting.

The selected candidate will take part in providing technical design and CADD support on projects to produce designs and specifications to be used for planning, permitting, engineering, and construction.

Tasks may include generating CAD designs on various assigned aspects of projects of basic to moderate scale and / or complexity.

This individual will generate accurate and concise design phase deliverables including external reference files and sheets for plans and profiles, models, sections and details and ensure that their responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry and client standards for design, accuracy, and functionality.

Civil CADD Drafter Duties and Responsibilities :

• Work in collaborative integrated teams of professional partners that include civil engineers, geologists, general contractors, planners, and environmental scientists;
• Prepare preliminary and final CADD construction drawings for roadway, environmental, and stream improvement projects.
• Participate in planning and design meetings;
• Maintain accuracy, quality, completeness and schedule;
• Learn and adhere to required CAD standards set by company;
• Review background information for projects with critical thinking and understanding of the bigger picture (i.e. topographic maps, aerial imagery, GIS data, etc.);
• Ability to work independently with strong time management skills,
• Perform basic geometry and quantity calculations.
• Learn basic principles of Soundview’s business lines to communicate intent with drawings and collaborate with engineers and project managers for needed design revisions, based on constructability, congestion, and or standard practices.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.

Who You Are :

Required Qualifications :

• High School Diploma,
• One of the of the following training or work experience :

1) year of formal CADD training; CADD Certification, or

• Minimum of two (2) years of direct Civil CADD experience.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products,
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to Soundview Consultant’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures,
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by Soundview Consultants’ health, safety and drug / alcohol and harassment policies,
• Strong attention to detail;
• Good communication skills and ability to work within a fast-paced team environment,
• Strong organizational skills,
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools,
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-5 years of work experience with a civil engineering / environmental firm using AutoCAD Civil 3D developing project plans,
• Knowledge of general civil and engineering design and construction,
• Understand and interpret topographic survey and base mapping including coordinates, elevations, contours, utility symbols, roadway symbols, etc.
• Experience working on wetland, stream, and shoreline restoration is preferred. Experience or knowledge of native plants and natural design elements.
• The salary range for this position is

$56,000 - $75,000

annually.
