As an Account Director - Sales, you will be a key contributor to our growth strategy, focusing on building and managing relationships with government entities, municipalities, and transit agencies to drive adoption of our AI-enhanced infrastructure and platform solutions. This role is ideal for a dynamic sales professional with experience in public sector sales and a passion for smart city technologies. You will manage key accounts, nurture client relationships, and execute sales strategies to secure contracts that align with our mission of transforming urban mobility. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development - Sales, you will play a critical role in expanding our footprint in the smart cities ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of accounts within the public sector, including municipalities, transit agencies, and government bodies, to drive sales of our AI-powered infrastructure and platform solutions.
  • Execute the sales cycle from lead qualification to contract negotiation and closure, ensuring client needs for smart mobility and urban innovation are met.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, such as city officials, transit planners, and procurement teams, to foster trust and secure long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the business development team to develop tailored proposals, presentations, and demonstrations that highlight the value of our sensor-equipped infrastructure and digital platform for municipal clients.
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts to maximize revenue and expand the adoption of our solutions.
  • Stay informed about industry trends in smart cities, mobility-as-a-service (MaaS), and public sector technology to effectively position our offerings against competitors.
  • Track and report on account performance metrics, including sales pipeline, revenue targets, and client satisfaction, using CRM tools to ensure accurate forecasting and reporting.
  • Represent the company at regional industry events, trade shows, and municipal meetings to generate leads and promote our solutions.
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to provide client feedback, ensuring our solutions evolve to meet the specific needs of public sector clients.
  • Ensure compliance with public sector procurement processes and ethical sales practices throughout all client interactions.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in account management or sales, with a proven track record of selling to government agencies, municipalities, or transit authorities.
  • Experience in selling technology solutions, preferably in areas such as AI, IoT, smart infrastructure, or urban mobility platforms.
  • Strong understanding of public sector procurement processes, including RFPs, tenders, and compliance requirements, with a history of successfully closing contracts.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, from technical teams to city officials.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Urban Planning, or a related field; relevant certifications in sales or technology are an advantage.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), sales analytics, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% for client meetings, site visits, and industry events.
  • Proactive, results-driven professional with strong organizational skills and a commitment to ethical sales practices in the public sector.
  • Compensation

    The base salary for this role ranges from $95,000 to $120,000 USD, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the role offers a competitive commission structure and equity options. This package is designed to attract talented professionals passionate about driving impactful change in urban innovation.
