ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

UC San Diego is hiring a temporary General Accountant to support the campus operations for the 2024 - 2025 School Year.

Duration : This role is anticipated to last 6 months

Compensation : $23.66 - $31.51 / hour. Eligible for paid holidays and vacation / sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.

Work Schedule : Varies by location.

Location : Hybrid : 2-3 days on-site in Hillcrest

DESCRIPTION

The incumbent is responsible for the performance of transactional duties. Will use and maintain one or more general accounting systems.

Under the finance team lead direction incumbent will gather data to prepare financial reports and projections for approximately thirty million dollars and various departmental funds.

Reconcile expenditures with UC San Diego general ledgers. Produce ad hoc reports as required. Participate in the Radiology budgeting and financial closing processes.

Prepares budget adjustments, cost transfers, and expense transfers as prescribed by internal budget and finance protocols as well as following UC San Diego accounting policies and procedures.

Uses professional accounting concepts. Applies established accounting practices and procedures in analyzing and reporting accounting data.

Normally receives detailed instructions on accounting assignments. Contact with others is primarily internal; some contact with outside reporting agencies and / or accounting / financial resources.

Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

Time Management / organizational skills / Multitasking

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Ability to gather, organize, and perform basic accounting-related analysis to complete work assignments.

Basic knowledge of financial transactions and systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Basic knowledge of common desktop / web applications

Excel skills; proven ability using spreadsheets and database software for financials analysis.

Ability to function as a member of a team.

Preferred : Basic knowledge of UC San Diego systems and applications.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Background screen required

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18.

It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range : $49,400 - $82,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent : $23.66 - $39.37

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.

The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
