Role Expectations
K-4 Substitute Teachers will be part of a hardworking team to help grow Charleston’s newest open enrollment public charter school serving all scholars.
Substitute Teachers are responsible for filling in to achieve the school’s mission through leading joyful classrooms that are academically rigorous, intensely focused on literacy skill development for all scholars, and intentional about daily scholar social and emotional growth.
He or she will report to a member of the academic leadership team and contribute to creating the school’s achievement-oriented culture.
Responsibilities and Duties
- We don’t want just any substitute filling in at our school we want the best.
- The ideal candidate will be a person that has a love for young children, an abundance of patience, and the ability to be firm whenever it’s called for.
- In addition to following lesson plans and delivering meaningful student instruction, great substitute teachers know to expect the unexpected.
Substitute Teachers will perform other duties as required to achieve the school’s mission.
Qualifications
- The best candidate for this job will have had classroom experience and be able to remain flexible and think on their feet so that when things go unexpectedly, they can still keep their class on course.
- Above all, we need a sub we can trust to lead and nurture our scholars, and to build relationships with the students and adults in the building, even in a short period of time.
