  • Essential Duties / Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to) : -While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner;
  • will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task;

including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.-Under limited review, estimates, plans, develops, coordinates, reviews, assesses and directs the execution of engineering projects which are of limited scale or complexity, resolving a variety of complex problems.

  • Observes and investigates all construction / demolition phases to ensure compliance with subcontractor schedules, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Surveys areas where construction jobs are to take place, paying special attention to environmental issues or government codes that need to be considered.
  • Prepares pre-job reports and consults with others working on the project, including environmental associations, government agencies and third-party construction companies.

Construction engineers need to have a strong understanding of building codes, laws and regulations that might affect their projects.

  • Utilizes computers when producing and analyzing designs for a project.-Assembles teams for project completion.-Manages a variety of parties involved in any given job.
  • Responsible for supervising jobs to completion, while paying attention to allotted budget(s).-Ensures adherence to safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Identifies actual or potential problems and determines necessity of for changes or remedial actions.-Investigates the need for contract change orders or deviations requiring professional engineering determination.
  • Makes recommendations for changes in construction / demolition to meet field conditions.-Reviews and certifies subcontractor partial payment estimates and claims for items of work claimed, verifying lump-sum and unit price items for accomplishments claimed.
  • Records changes and modifications to contract drawings and specifications.Minimum Qualifications : -Comprehensive knowledge of principles, concepts, and techniques in environmental / civil engineering, with knowledge of environmental regulations, local utility codes, and surveying techniques and procedures.
  • High degree of skill in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.-Broad knowledge of trade techniques and practices in construction projects - including but not limited to concrete, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, grading, and excavating.
  • Practical knowledge of construction / demolition contract language and construction contractor billing practices.-Ability to organize own work independently in order to meet established objectives, using discretion in performing duties.
  • Skill and ability to perform highly complex and critical professional tasks and to solve complex problems.-Ability to have major impact on organizational success and productivity, with considerable latitude for independent judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels.-Ability to develop and lead projects, including defining scope, objectives and methods-Ability to train and mentor more junior staff.
  • Can be viewed as a capable independent contributor and as competent within the broad discipline.-Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) required.-Must be able to complete and maintain all training and qualifications required for the position.

Education and Experience Required : Bachelors' degree in appropriate discipline; however, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to touch or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
