We are dedicated to fostering talent and nurturing the next generation of journalists. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as an Assignment Editor Trainee.
Position Overview : The Assignment Editor Trainee at WINK News will undergo comprehensive training and mentorship to develop essential skills in news gathering, story development, and newsroom coordination.
This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced professionals while contributing to the overall news coverage strategy of our organization.
Key Responsibilities : Learn and assist in monitoring various news sources, including scanners, social media, and news wires, to identify breaking news and story leads.
Support the assignment desk by researching news stories, verifying facts, and assisting in story development. Collaborate with reporters, photographers, and newsroom personnel to coordinate coverage assignments and logistical arrangements.
Shadow and learn from senior editors, gaining insights into news judgment, story selection, and editorial decision-making processes.
Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date information in newsroom databases and systems. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (recent graduates or individuals pursuing degrees are encouraged to apply).
Strong passion for news, storytelling, and a keen interest in pursuing a career in journalism. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
High level of curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to learn from experienced industry professionals. Basic understanding of newsroom operations, journalism principles, and digital media tools is a plus.
