The Administrative Services Division within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill an Agency Transportation and Sustainability Officer (Management Analyst 5) position.
This position is locatedin our Headquarters Office inUpon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.
In this unique and exciting position, you will lead Ecology’s efforts to fully electrify its fleet of vehicles. Your role will be essential in both transitioning to electric vehicles and adopting new business practices to best utilize this technology.
You will also be responsible for promoting and advancing sustainability efforts within Ecology and supporting efforts to reduce Ecology’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Duties
What makes this role unique?
You will have the opportunity to engage and collaborate with all levels of the agency, including directly with executive management.
Conducting extensive research and analysis, you will provide recommendations that have agency-wide impacts. You will also be responsible for overseeing multiple steering committees and work groups, as well as managing key initiatives related to sustainability and fleet operations.
What you will do :
- Lead steering committees and workgroups, fostering collaborative decision-making.
- Research and evaluate information on vehicle operations; provide recommendations on fleet size and composition.
- Develop and promote sustainability initiatives and efforts.
- Manage data with a critical focus on data quality.
- Drive change management by promoting the use of electric vehicles and provide training on their operation.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
Years of required experience indicated below are full-time equivalent years. Full-time equivalent experience means that any experience where working hours were less than 40 hours per week will be prorated in order to meet the equivalency of full-time.
We would calculate this by looking at the total hours worked per week, divide this by 40, and then multiply by the total number of months worked.
Examples of the proration calculations are :
- 30 hours worked per week for 20 months : (30 / 40) x 20 months 15 months full-time equivalent
- 20 hours worked per week for 12 months : (20 / 40) x 12 months 6 months full-time equivalent
Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, education, and volunteer experience.
