Lockport Steel Fabricators, LLC is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to join our team. We focus on the fabrication of engineered to order structural steel and plate for the Oil and Gas, Industrial, Infrastructure, and Commercial Building sectors.
The Company is known for its versatile fabrication capabilities, enabling it to perform out-of-the ordinary fabrication with precision and in a timely manner.
Major Job Functions & Responsibilities :
- Do inspections if necessary for nonconforming receipt inspection.
- Inspect Welds for conformity to codes such as D1.1 / 5
- Calibrate inspection equipment and tools.
- Perform final inspections.
- Measure overall characteristics of a part.
- Report inspection results.
- Inspect grade, shape and thickness of incoming material.
- Assure specifications of bolts are in accordance with purchase order.
- Measure paint thickness levels.
- Maintain inspection records.
- Identify non-conforming material.
- Review incoming consumables are in proper conditions.
- Confirm proper gages are used to measure weld sizes.
- Guarantee calibrated tools are used during inspection.
Other job functions and responsibilities :
- Reject or accept incoming materials.
- Tag non conforming material after inspection.
- Separate non conforming material.
Position Qualification Minimums :
- Reading Technical Drawings / Blueprints
- Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English
- Meets the qualification requirements of training and experience in accordance with AWS D1.1 - Section 6.1.4 (3).
- Training and experience meeting requirements of ANSI / AISC 360-16 Chapter N.4.1 to perform final inspections for all processes typical for the company.
QCI minimum qualification includes experience and knowledge of acceptance criteria for welding, high strength bolting

- Internal Training
- Note : Initial qualification experience is documented by memorandum. Subsequent training is specifically documented for the process trained.
Some QCIs may be singularly qualified in one process (noted in a QCI master list if necessary.)
