The Mechanical Project Engineer II will be involved in a variety of engineering projects that focus on New Product Development and continuous improvement within the Elkay Drinking Water product lines.

Responsibilities :

  • Support project teams in the design, development, and launch of new water delivery products and components, ensuring they meet cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Design, analyze, and optimize mechanical components for various applications.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation throughout the product development process, including design specifications, DFMEAs, test plans (DVPRs), and project reports.
  • Oversee the creation and testing of prototypes, analyze test results, and iterate designs based on findings.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve engineering problems encountered during the development process for assigned components and systems.

Support product builds throughout the development cycle.

  • Work with manufacturing and operations teams to conduct design for manufacturability and assembly assessments.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve issues from both current production and development efforts.
  • Complete cost assessments of various design options under consideration.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and milestones to stakeholders throughout the development cycle, ensuring alignment and support.

Skills & Experiences :

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, minimum of 2 years experiience in product development
  • Experience with engineering analysis tools : tolerance stack analysis and GD&T principles, FEA, and CFD
  • Basic understanding of sheetmetal fabrication & injection molded part design
  • Familiarity with waterway, flow control and refrigeration system design a plus
  • F amiliarity with V&V Tools (DFMEA & DVPR) Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis Methodologies (8D, A3)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
