The Division of Infectious Diseases (ID) in the Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM), St.
Louis, MO seeks applicants for a full-time faculty member to serve as the Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention for WUSM.
WUSM is home to a nationally recognized clinical infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship program, healthcare epidemiology research program, and infectious diseases fellowship.
WUSM has been funded continuously for healthcare epidemiology and antimicrobial stewardship research since 1997 through the CDC Prevention Epicenters program, and multiple faculty members are national and international leaders in the field.
WUSM also has a strong training and mentorship program for trainees and junior faculty interested in healthcare epidemiology and antimicrobial stewardship.
The Washington University Infection Prevention Program provides expert guidance and care to the clinical operations of WUSM.
WUSM is home to one of the largest academic clinical practice groups in the nation, with 1,800+ physicians who represents 77 specialties and subspecialties.
WUSM teams service over million patients per year, including ambulatory services at several suburban sites throughout the metropolitan area and rural outreach clinics.
WUSM also works in partnership with BJC HealthCare, one of the largest nonprofit healthcare organizations in the United States.
BJC Healthcare employs over 30,0000 employees and serves patients and their families in urban, suburban, and rural communities through its 14 hospitals and over 120 community health locations.
Services include inpatient and outpatient care, primary care, community health and wellness, occupational health, home health, community mental health, rehabilitation, long-term care, and hospice.
The candidate will provide strategic leadership to support for WUSM, managing and growing the infection prevention program in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
The candidate will work in close conjunction with the Medical Director of Infection Prevention, and a robust team of Healthcare Epidemiologists and Infection Preventionists.
The Associate Medical Director will provide clinical and epidemiologic guidance to other relevant teams and councils as needed and will be included in healthcare epidemiology leadership meetings.
In addition to medical leadership for infection prevention and control activities, the candidate will also participate in teaching and research activities in the ID division, attend on the ID consult service, and provide other patient care activities as needed.
The candidate will collaborate closely with a team of healthcare epidemiologists and mentor ID fellows who are on the Healthcare Epidemiology fellowship training track.

Applicants should be BC / BE in Infectious Diseases and be eligible for a medical license in Missouri. Additional qualifications in clinical research or epidemiology would be an asset.
