Job Summary : The Bagger must ensure that all customers exiting the store receive outstanding customer service. S / he should assist customers in a fast, friendly, and accurate check out.
S / he is required to bag their guests’ groceries in a proper manner and occasionally assist customers with the handling of their purchased products, ensuring customers exit the store with all purchased items.
As a team member of Pete’s Fresh Market it is important that Pete’s Four Pillars of Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service are always exemplified.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing all guests with exceptional customer service.
- Must ensure all service standards are frequently met and often exceed company expectations.
- Must possess the knowledge and training of how to effectively bag customer’s purchased items.
- Responsible for the overall conditions of their lane and surrounding area.
- Must be a team player who is able to assist with actual store operation activities such as; stocking shelves, assisting with customers, and cleaning, depending upon business needs.
- Assist with back-stock, and ensure the timely return of perishable items.
- Possess the knowledge about the proper handling of delicate merchandise.
- Being friendly and approachable while bagging groceries and helping people out to their car is necessary.
Education / Certifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of experience in grocery store or similar retail environment.
- Must have a valid and up to date Food Handler’s Certificate.
- Must have above average cash handling and basic math / calculating skills.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be capable of providing and modeling exceptional customer service.
- Must have excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers, store leadership, and fellow-team members.
- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in groups.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
Must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, climb, balance, stoop to grasp objects, kneel, crouch, crawl, frequently push / pull up to 100 lbs.
frequently lift and / or move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
- Occasional high stress when dealing with systems / customers / staff.
- Able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the store / business needs and as required to ensure adequate store staffing.
- Must have reliable source of transportation.
