We are looking for a skilled HR Generalist to join our team in the construction / contractor industry based in West Chester, Ohio.
This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. As an HR Generalist, you will be responsible for supporting our HR team in various administrative and technical capacities, ensuring compliance with corporate, legal, and regulatory reporting requirements, and assisting with the onboarding and safety training of new employees.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and technical support for the HR team, including the development and revision of current and future programs.
- Assist with the daily administration of corporate, legal, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support the onboarding process, including orientation and training of new employees, processing forms, and answering basic policy and benefit questions.
- Conduct safety training for new hires and assist with employment verifications and other requests requiring employment verification.
- Assist in the development, administration, communication, and interpretation of policies related to the HR function.
- Support benefits administration, including assisting with HCR testing, SPDs and SMMs distribution, and open enrollment activities.
- Assist with the FMLA process, including providing appropriate request forms and tracking administration.
- Maintain HR documentation in HRIS system and assist with recruitment process.
- Track and follow-up on company required trainings and assist with compiling federal reports.
- Assist with updating employee handbooks and job descriptions, and prequalification processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Proven experience as an HR Generalist.
- Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.
- Good knowledge of employment / labor laws.
- Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; HRIS systems (e.g. UKG Pro) will be a plus.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Aptitude in problem-solving.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Exceptional ability in managing employee relations.
- Experience in producing union reports.
- Demonstrable knowledge in compliance management.
- CIPD certification is considered a plus.
