Job Summary
The SBA Loan Officer will mainly be responsible for underwriting new SBA guarantee term loans competitively and expediently while complying with the bank
s SBA underwriting standards, policies, and applicable state and federal laws rules, and regulations. They will ensure the needs of a borrower are met by underwiring the appropriate type of loan.
Secondly, they will implement the Bank's sales and marketing programs targeted toward the business community and examine, evaluate, and recommend approval of all types of Small Business Administration loans.
Essential Job Functions
- Underwrite SBA-guaranteed term loans and ensure the SBA eligibility, within SBA SOP guidelines for SBA guarantee and within company credit guidelines.
- Conduct financial spread and cash flow analysis.
- Conduct SBA term loan review and propose risk rating upgrade / downgrade if applicable.
- Assist in packaging and closing SBA-guaranteed loans as a team.
- Assist in keeping the SOP up-to-date and provide SBA guidance and assistance to other Underwriters, Credit Analysts, Processors, and Marketing Officers.
- Assist in sending out credit covenant reminders to SBA loan customers for collecting tax returns and financials for term loan review.
- Assist in preparing or coordinating for SBA Desk Audit and PLP renewal
- Comply with all BSA-related training and procedures.
- May have other assignments as needed.
Secondary Job Functions
- Assists lending team in all facets of growing and managing the banks SBA loans.
- Develops new and additional deposits, cash management and bank services revenue.
- Works with clients to resolve account or service-related problems
- Maintains ongoing visibility with client base
- Calls and visits target customers to promote and sell establishment products and services.
- Promotes and cross-sells other establishment products and services as appropriate to customer requirements, such as business checking, business credit card, and letters of credit.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Must have over 3 years of SBA underwriting experience. Previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience is required.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Be detail-oriented and well-organized.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
- Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
- Education :
Associate's degree and related on-the-job experience required.
