Job Overview : A law firm in Salt Lake City, UT, is seeking a Mid-Level Patent Associate Attorney with a background in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of prosecution experience, strong video processing and video codecs knowledge, and familiarity with video coding standards.
Experience in virtual / augmented reality and AI is a plus. The role involves managing portfolios, conducting patent analysis / opinions of counsel, and handling IPRs.
Admission to the USPTO is advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate adaptability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and within a team.
Duties :
- Prosecute patent applications at a mid-level capacity
- Manage patent portfolios and provide counsel on patent-related matters
- Conduct patent analysis and opinions of counsel
- Stay updated with video coding standards and technologies
- Collaborate with colleagues and clients to develop effective patent strategies
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information
- Manage time effectively to meet deadlines for multiple projects
Requirements :
- 2+ years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
- Strong knowledge and solid experience in video processing and video codecs
- Familiarity with video coding standards
- Experience in virtual / augmented reality and AI is a plus
- Graduate-level experience or advanced technical degree is a plus
- Involvement with patent analysis / opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus
- Admission to the USPTO is a plus
