Davis Behavioral Health is seeking a part-time employee to perform duties as a Clubhouse Generalist (Case Manager / SSW) with Lived Experience at Journey House, a program which promotes the Clubhouse Model of Psychiatric Rehabilitation to members with severe and prolonged mental illness.

This position is based at the clubhouse located at 2250 North 1700 West in Layton, Utah. The successful candidate will report to the Journey House Program Director and join a strong team of dedicated professionals.

As a member of the clubhouse team at Journey House, the Clubhouse Peer Support Specialist promotes the belief that recovery is possible for people with mental illness must be a core social work value as you will work with the members to identify their strengths and challenges and as they work towards the goal of pursuing meaning and productive work, personal, and social life.

The members are the foundation of Journey House.

Essential Job Functions

The Clubhouse Peer Support Specialist must be able to complete the following essential job functions :

  • Provide peer support services, case management, and personal services to clients at the expected level, quantified by an annual productivity standard.
  • Complete clinical documentation, recording treatment, behaviors, and activities, within established timeframes.
  • Appropriately share her / his / their lived experiences in support of overall mental health treatment goals.
  • Engage with clients' treatment team to support clients and coordinate treatment objectives.
  • Work with clients to ensure basic needs are met.
  • Be knowledgeable about the crisis system and know when to activate it.
  • Ability to balance independent work while appropriately consulting with supervisor and taking direction when given.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position, based the established minimum qualifications, is outlined below :

  • $25.50 per hour + based on years of licensure for candidates with an active SSW license
  • $21.50 per hour for candidates with a bachelors degree and no professional license
  • $18.25 per hour for candidates without a bachelors degree

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and / or ability required.

Education / Licensure / Certification

Must have a bachelor's degree in social work or related field and / or current licensure in the state of Utah as an SSW.

Must have relevant experience in the behavioral health field.

Certification, or certification eligibility, as a peer support and / or family peer support specialist is highly preferred ().

  • The qualifications to obtain CPSS certification in the State of Utah are outlined below :
  • Have personal lived experience and be a person in sustained recovery for at least one year from Mental Health and / or Substance Use.
  • Sustained recovery at Davis Behavioral Health is defined as when an individual has not been in active treatment (i.e., regular outpatient therapy), and has not been admitted to a higher level of care (i.

e., residential treatment, hospitalization, etc.) for a minimum of 12 months before seeking employment as a peer support specialist.

Sustained recovery may include the current use of medication management and recovery supports, which is not defined as active treatment by DBH in relation to peer support specialist qualifications.

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • If the successful candidate is not licensed as a SSW in the State of Utah, she / he / they must obtain adult Targeted Case Manager (TCM) within 30 days of employment through the State of Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health and maintain certification in good standing while employed by DBH.

The requirements to complete TCM certification are defined below :

  • 400 hours of work, volunteer, and / or education experience in human services or a related field.
  • Completion of a 40-hour case management practicum.
  • The Clubhouse Peer Support Specialist must complete and maintain certification in First Aid and CPR
  • Successfully pass the adult TCM examination at the conclusion of the TCM certification class.
  • Valid driver's license

Experience Required

Lived Experience

The successful candidate must have their own lived experience with mental illness or substance use or be a parent or caregiver of children and youth who have received services from mental health, substance use, or related services systems and be in sustained recovery for at least 12 months, with a preference for 24 months of sustained recovery.

Sustained recovery requires an employee to be in solid recovery, without any recovery disrupting activities (i.e., hospitalization, residential treatment, regular outpatient therapy, relapse, etc.).

Clean Driving Record

The successful candidate must also have a clean driving record to operate agency vehicles and / or transport clients, when necessary.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with clients that have sever mental illness, are hard working, can work both independently and successfully within a small outreach team.

Preferred

  • Previous experience working in a clubhouse is strongly preferred.
  • Previous professional experience working as a mental health peer support specialists is also preferred.

Skills / Abilities / Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • All employees at DBH must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check as well as a pre-employment drug screening.

Since Davis Behavioral Health works with Federal grants the company and its employees must comply with the Federal drug laws, including no use of medical marijuana.

Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

Skills & Abilities

The Clubhouse Peer Support Specialist must possess the following skills, abilities, and qualifications to successfully perform the essential functions of the job :

  • Proficiently utilize required systems and / or equipment related to performing essential functions of the job.
  • Be a self-identified current or former user of mental health or co-occurring services who can relate to others who are now using those services.
  • No longer in active treatment at DBH and have at least 12 months of stable, sustained recovery. This includes weekly individual or group therapy, regular case management, peer support services, or admission to any residential program at DBH.

Individuals who receive medication management services only, or who have infrequent therapy, may be reviewed for eligibility on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. A clean driving record is also required to utilize the DBH vehicle fleet.
  • Follow the Utah Peer Support Specialist Code of Ethics .

Preference will also be given to individuals who :

  • Have good organizational and practice management skills.
  • Can work independently and effectively.
  • Be flexible in days and hours available for scheduled work to best meet the need of clients and DBH.

DBH Criminal Background Check & Drug Screening Disclaimer

Davis Behavioral Health is a drug-free workplace and requires all employees to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
