Weston Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Geologist, Engineer, or Scientist with Safety experienceto work with our Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team (START) performing EPA Emergency Responses, Investigations, Removal Assessments, and Removal candidate will perform in a seniorleadership role withintheSTARTteam providing ourEPA client with accurate and pertinent scientific data according toagreedupon methods, procedures, and candidate willprovide leadership within a team responsible for delivering sound conclusions and recommendations to EPA based upon field investigations and literature reviews within the established position will also be periodically on-call to support emergency response projects as individual is also responsible for overseeing the health and safety program, including ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements, establishing and approving health and safety SOPs for emergency response operations, and reviewing and approving Site-Specific Health and Safety Plans.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Health and Safety, Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Requires minimum of five (5) years of Industrial Hygiene experience.
  • 10+years of experience in environmental and / or geotechnical sampling, and / or removal oversight. Oil and hazardous materials emergency response experience is a plus.
  • Experience providing health and safety training, preparation and review of health and safety plans, conducting safety audits and managing projects.
  • Experience providing safety oversight and audits on field projects including releases of hazardous substances and oil;

emergency, disaster and WMD response; and removal and remedial projects.

  • Ability toplan, lead, and participate in site walks, site evaluations, removal assessments, and removal action oversight projects, including oil, and hazardous materials emergency response projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in bio-safety, radioactive materials management, field sampling and analysis, decontamination and / or mitigation methods, emergency preparedness, radiation dose assessment and management, and / or toxicology.
  • Demonstrable expertise and experience with OSHA, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) regulations and sampling techniques.
  • Experienceperforming site assessments and collecting multimedia samples.
  • Experience inanalytical method selectionanddatamanagement and interpretation.
  • Exposure to various technical and scientific procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (field equipment, PPE, etc.)
  • Experience in preparing planning documents to methodically perform field investigations, data reporting, technical report preparation.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and self-starter.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Provide technical and financial direction for teams up to 10+ personnel.

Preferred Skills :

  • Experience with Geoprobe sampling; experience with drilling methods including hollow-stem auger, air rotary casing hammer, mud rotary, monitor well installation, and multimedia sampling.
  • Field in the use ofvariousair and water monitoring instruments (PID / FID, multi gas meters, etc.).Abilities include calibrationof field instruments, implementation in field, and interpretation of results.
  • Familiarity with the Incident Command System (ICS) 100-800.Completion of ICS courses a plus.
  • General understanding of the NCP,Oil Pollution Act andCERCLA.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER
  • Able to work in Levels C / B / A PPE

Technical and Operational Scope :

  • Identifies staff in alignment with tasking, plan, and document field activities, and prepare daily and final reports for EPA client within established budgets and schedule.
  • Exercises judgment on applicability of methods and approaches in use and determines best approaches to problem solving when standard procedures are inadequate.
  • Determines best method of data gathering, data base management, and analysis of data to achieve goals.
  • Consults with outside specialists to obtain most accurate and timely data possible while meeting project specifications andtimetables.
  • Calibrates and maintains a variety of multi-media monitoring and sampling equipment.
  • Knowledge of preparing cost estimates and scope of work for project execution.
  • Proficient in the writing of technical documents including sampling, data, and safety plans.
  • Uses level D-A PPE to make entries into potentially hazardous areas.
  • Duties may include rotations as an on-call responder available 24 hours a day for one week at a time, and periodic field deployments for removal assessment / action assignments.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Salary Range : $75,000 - $100,100 - $125,000
