About UMOM New Day Centers : Founded in 1964, UMOM is Arizona's largest provider of services for families experiencing homelessness.

Our mission is to restore hope, rebuild lives, and end homelessness. With an annual operating budget of $22 million dollars, UMOM provides shelter, supportive services, and housing programs to families and single women experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County.

UMOM serves over 15,000 unique individuals across all our services annually, including families receiving support at the Family Housing Hub.

Pos i tion D e s c ri p t i o n : The Accounts Payable Coordinator manages the accounts payable for UMOM and the related organizations.

This position participates as a member of the finance department in financial recordkeeping and month-end preparation. This position also acts as an assistant to the VP of Finance and the Finance Manager to ensure an adequate system of accounting records.

E s sen ti a l Du t i e s a n d Re s p o n s i b i li t i e s :

  • Monitors and maintains vendor files, including W9s, Workers Comp and Liability Insurance, vendor contacts and emails.
  • Reviews and negotiates vendor payment terms to leverage cash flow output.
  • Completes full cycle accounts payable processing including invoice processing and payments for all entities.
  • Takes an active leadership role in GL coding of expenses with a firm understanding of budget line items.
  • Provides a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides GL support to all departments and perform duties required for the monthly financial close.
  • Processes annual 1099 forms.
  • Oversees company credit card program including ordering new cards, cancellations, purchase limits and GL postings.
  • Oversees on-line Employee Out of Pocket reimbursement program.
  • Manages online Amazon business account
  • Banks deposits and postage meter reporting.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qu a l i fi ca t i o n and Competency Requirements :

Experience and Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3 years of accounts payable experience, with at least 2 years in high volume accounts payable with budget of $20M+.
  • Previous experience in complex general ledger coding strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of non-profit / social sector; experience working with underserved or disadvantaged populations is a plus.

Computer skills

  • Proficiency with applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required
  • Previous experience with accounting software is strongly preferred

Compliance

  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain one
  • Ability to clear the Central Registry Screening from the Department of Child Safety
  • Valid AZ driver's license and a driving record that falls within UMOM's policy

This position is typically performed in an interior, environmentally controlled office setting. The duties of the job require extended periods of time being stationary and manipulating a computer (keyboard, monitor, mouse), and other standard office equipment including, but not limited to : printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer / technology peripherals.

Work Schedule : The typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, normal business hours, with occasional nights and weekends, depending on the needs of the position and the organization.

This position allows for a hybrid model working from home one day each week.
